Green Up Your Home

Yes, green is in and here to stay. Here are some easy ways to green up your home and help out the planet in the process.

Cleaning Products. There are lots of green cleaning products out there now that are available everywhere making it easy for you to be earth-friendly. Even Clorox now sells a line of green products that you can find at your local drugstore.

Reusable bags. Bags are available everywhere and so cheap to get. If you are looking for a more stylish option, check out these great new designs from Envirosax.

Conserve water and energy. Shut off the lights when you’re not in the room. Don’t leave water running too long. Even little things like turning off the Drying feature in your dishwasher can help. Lots of little steps can add up in a big way.

Living in a small space can very quickly cramp your style. There are some very easy tricks to make your small space look grander and here are 5 of them:

1. If your walls are a darker color, go for something light on the floor or ceiling. A light colored rug or a ceiling in a lighter shade can help. It will open up your space, making the walls feel taller.

2. Stay clutter-free. Tons of odds and ends all over the place, can quickly make a mansion feel like a studio apartment.

3. Mirrors can work wonders. Whether it’s one big one, or tons of small ones (like these from Ikea), add mirrors to your walls to reflect light and color within your space.

4. Make sure your furniture fits the room. Don’t get any big, bulky pieces as they can throw off the balance in a room.

5. Color. Same idea as furniture here – if you’re going to go with a bold, bright color in one element of the room, make sure you balance that color somewhere else in the room.

Wall-to-Wall

Looking to spruce up your walls without having to bust out paint rollers and cans? You can now easily do so with the help of wall decals. Besides the company that first brought decals back from the 80s, Blik, there are now tons of other design options out there:

Not willing to wait to get these mail-order graphics? You can now even find these at your local Ikea or Cost Plus World Market store.

Wall decals not only give you something of visual interest on your walls but can even be a piece of art themselves. Like these great new cameo pieces from Modern Wall Graphics:
